Last week, while praying the Lord’s Prayer, I began to associate different pieces of Scripture with each phrase. I hope you enjoy these verses as I did in searching and selecting them. Again, my hope, and my prayer is that these pieces of Scripture – of the Bible – of God’s Word, allow you to draw nearer to Him so that He may draw nearer to you.
Romans 8: 15 -17 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Who art in Heaven
Matthew 23: 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come
2Peter 3: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Thy will be done
Hebrews 12: 6-9 For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
On earth as it is in heaven
Matthew 18: 18 – 20 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Give us this day our daily bread
Luke 11: 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Forgive us our trespasses
Luke 15: 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee…
As we forgive those who trespass against us
Matthew 6: 14 – 15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
And lead us not into temptation
Revelation 3: 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Joshua 1: 5 ….as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deliver us from evil
Matthew 11: 27 – 28 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
1Corinthians 4: 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
Now and forever. Amen.
Revelation 1: 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Remember, there is life in God’s Word and that Jesus lives. His death on the cross was not in vain. May God’s Will in your life be perfected. May your prayers be answered in accordance with His Will and His Purpose for your life.
Our Father, who art in Heaven, help me each day to be a better person. Teach me to help others, and to love my fellow man. Teach me to understand my purpose in this world, and to use the talents and the gifts You have given me. Thank you for supplying our every need, our daily bread. Help me to help others in opening their hearts to You. Let me forgive those who have wronged me, as You have forgiven me. Jesus, You died on the cross telling Your Father, Our Father, “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” Why should I not forgive? Give me rest from my troubles. Deliver us from all evil. Be with me always and give me the words to pray the needs of others. Let me praise Your name and let me never take for granted what You, my Father, have done and will do for me in accordance with thy will and purpose for my life. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory! By the Blood of Christ Jesus, I pray, Amen.
