A Selfish Prayer

1_john_5_14Father, I know you love me for it is not written that I am the righteousness of God in Christ; am I not your beloved child; your very special possession for have I not chosen you as my Lord and savior? Art thou not my salvation?

I know you are with me. I know you are for me. I know you abide in me. I know you are HE who sustains me. I know there is an appointed time for everything under the sun and in my life.

Father, you who have collected my tears; you who have counted the strands of hair on my head; you who knew me and formed me before the foundation of the earth – does not your word say there is no shame for those whose trust and hope is in you? Father your word says surely you will bless me. Your word says that you will increase me and my children more and more. Your word says that I am your special possession. Your word says ask and it shall be given unto you. This I declare unto me for that is what you have promised me and Lord, I am holding you to it.   Continue reading →

Pivotal Points

trusting GodThere comes a time in life when your trust, and hope, in God is truly tested. Trusting and believing is no longer just talk. Circumstances are so that you either trust God, or you don’t because the situation will not allow you to be lukewarm.  The test may come through losing not only your job, but finances, or great health issues arise for you or those near and dear to you, or children give you grief, or the unimaginable occurs, and you wonder what is really going on.  You find yourself in a position where you either believe, or don’t believe that God’s grace is sufficient. You either rest, or doubt in Christ’s finished work on the cross.   Continue reading →

With, For & In (Me!)

Hello all! Depending upon what part of the world you live in there is really not any telling what your weather was like today. The US had temps ranging from -1 to 78! Today, I heard a newscaster say that Houston is the only place where in the same week (or even the same day) one can get frostbite and sunburn! The weather is definitely one thing that is not controlled by man!

The last few weeks I have been meditating on three things that I heard some months ago in a sermon from Ed Young of Second Baptist Church in Houston. I cannot recall what the sermon was about, but the below stayed with me, and the verses have really comforted me and allowed me joy in the last few weeks.

 God is with me

Hebrews 13:5   For He Himself has said,I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God is for me

Romans 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

God is in me

1 John 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It just doesn’t get any better than that. Be open to all that God has for you!

Father, when all else fails, it is quite comforting to know that you are always consistent. You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. You are indeed faithful. You are WITH me; you are FOR me; you are  IN me. Thank you for all that you are to me, and all that I am in you! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

A Turn

Ahh, there are times when life takes a turn and one is left, for a minute, or two, a little lost; we lose focus. BUT, if your faith rests in He who created you, in His son, whom you have declared as your savior, in the glorious triune Jehovah –  then one knows that one is truly not lost.  lostWhen one calls upon our Abba, our Father, He not only hears, He will answer, for what Father will do any less than attend to the needs of his child.

He knows what is best for each of His children and He will guide our every footstep, our every thought, and if we only but listen to his answer to our cry, we will be better than ok – we will be safe under his wings. We will rejoice in the work of his hands.

pray

Father, there is not a day or night that goes by that I do not call on your name. I just thank you for giving me your word that you are my Father and that you love me and are always here for me. I take such great comfort in you and knowing that I am truly never lost. I am sheltered under your wings, covered in your shadow. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Riches and 10% – Psalm 49

The other night while reading my Bible, I ran across Psalm 49. I know I must have read it before, but this time it took on a more meaningful perspective. With everything going on these days: wars and rumors of wars, new outbreaks of diseases, a downward spiraling economy, and so many unheard of before events, Psalm 49 tells a different story about what, or whom, we should trust.

90% to you.
90% to you.

All God asks for is 10% of your riches, whether your riches be much or much less. He asks that you give back to Him just 10% of all that He has given to you. Remember, He is the reason for your talent, your opportunities, and your life. Understand God’s purpose for your riches no matter how great or small they may be.  Continue reading →
