The greatest sin I feel is that of indifference. Indifference shows no importance. It bestows little or no concern. For over a week on my new job, I passed by my fellow co-workers sitting at their desks and never acknowledged their existence. One day my spirit asked me how was it that when I passed by I looked straight ahead and not once did I turn and give my co-workers a nod or a hello? Why didn’t I acknowledge their existence?

indifference2How often in our daily walks do we come across situations and people where we look straight ahead and acknowledge no one or nothing? Ahead, we see an unfortunate person in unfortunate circumstances. As we come closer, what do we do? Do we even look at the person, or are we indifferent to their circumstance? When we hear of others in need … What do we do? Do we offer to help? Are we so vain of heart and spirit that we think that could not ever be us? Money is not a protector. Could not our circumstances change where we are on the other side, and we become the ones who are looked upon as having no importance? Continue reading →

Stuff Happens

Stuff happens. Life has its unexpected occurrences. I call them tweaks. We get sick, or someone near to us gets sick. One may go to the doctor for a check up and their tests come back not as expected. One travels to the grocery store and gets in an accident. We get sidetracked and do wrong and that can lead to other unpleasant stuff in our lives. For a time, we may lose our sense of well being and security.

On Friday, one of my boss’ best of friends, while performing his daily bike ride, so concentrating on his ride, ran head on into a parked delivery truck. He is, at present (for we know we serve a God who can change things) paralyzed. He is 56. My boss asked me to pray. I did. I am. I asked him to pray, too.

On Thursday afternoon, in broad daylight, one of our neighbors had her door kicked in, and she was robbed. Thanks to God, she wasn’t home. She is 83. You know what her response was? It wasn’t fear. It wasn’t anger. Her response was, “I’m not going to let stuff like that bother me. I’m not going to be around here much longer anyway.” Her response made me think.  Continue reading →

Asking Of God‏

praying god's willMy son and I had a conversation the other day about for what he prayed. He is leaving for his second tour of Iraq on the 12th and he doesn’t want to go. He has a three month old baby girl and wife at home. I asked him for what did he pray, and he said God’s will. I asked him to remember that we must not only pray God’s will, but we must also ask of God what it is we want from Him in accordance with His will for our lives.

What is asking of God but prayer, and what is prayer but conversation with God? Prayer is an intimate, loving, honest and revealing talk with our Father. My father is gone, but I recall many a day sitting and talking with him about my wants, my desires, my frustration, hurts and joys. Do you ever laugh with God? He can be funny at times. Remember, He is real. He is alive. He sees us. He hears us. He loves us. Scripture says that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much. Ask someone whose Saviour is Jesus Christ to stand with you in prayer for when two or three are gathered together in His name [Jesus], He is in the midst and when you pray, what you bind, or loose on earth is also bound or loosed in heaven.  Continue reading →

Death – Are You Prepared?

I learned last night that two of my family members died. One mature in age, the other young by today’s standards. It made me think.

We are so busy living we sometimes forget we have to die, and unlike those in the Bible’s Old Testament who lived to be hundreds of years old, life is still short. purpose-life-life-purpose-706622James 4: 14 You who say today or tomorrow we will [do this or that] …Why you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. WHAT IS YOUR LIFE? You are but a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Physical death (unless you are one of the fortunate ones to be caught up in the Rapture) will come to each of us. It is like the second coming of Christ; we do not know the day, the hour, nor the time, but it shall surely come. Are you prepared? Are you afraid of dying? If your number rolled this day, do you know with certainty where your soul shall rest for eternity? The choice is Heaven or Hell. Are you prepared?  Continue reading →

Satan Is Real

Today, through the prayer request of one close to me, I was made painfully aware that Satan is real. Sometimes, I think we in this secular world often forget that the Devil is real. Scripture says he is, that he roams to and fro, and so it is, for the Word of God does not lie.

There are at least 100 instances in New Testament that speak of the Devil. The Devil, Satan, thinks so highly of himself, he even attempted to tempt Jesus. Matthew 4: 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the Devil. When the Devil cannot touch you, he will touch those around you. He will scatter, confuse, and throw hurtful, sometimes harmful, deadly darts at you. Look what he did to Job with God’s permission. But for those who believe, God always gives us a way out of the pain inflicted upon us, and that is through the Blood of Christ Jesus.

I leave you this day with Scripture and may you inscribe it in your heart so that you may be prepared should you, or your family, be attacked.

Ephesians 6: 10 – 20 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

As always, let us pray one for another and be strengthened in the full revelation that God’s Word is true and binding. Try to learn one piece of Scripture per month. For the sword is His Word and you must know it to speak it. The time will come when you will need it.

BELIEVE on the Blood of Christ Jesus.

Because  Emmanuel  Lives  I   Expect  Victory  Everytime!

Lord, I realize I am a sinner. I know there is evil in this world. I know, too, that good overcomes evil, and that when I am weak You are strong. In Your strength I have hope. Father, I know You have given me Your Word to protect me in times of strife. Let me begin my day with prayer and in thanksgiving for blessings yet to be received. prayFather, let me, daily, put on my armor, as your word describes, so that I may be prepared. Let me end my day humbly in your word, in prayer, and in thanksgiving for the day and its blessings. Give me the thirst and the strength, Lord, to read and study Your Word so that I may be equipped to handle what comes my way. Let my trust always be in You. No matter what comes my way, let me live in peace knowing that I am a child of the King, and that Jesus died on the cross for me. Let me be mindful of Job and his struggles and how he remained faithful to You. By the Blood of Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen.
