It has been awhile since I have been on the website. I could say I have been busy, but in all honesty, I have been doing more of nothing than busy doing more of something of value. Often I take time to reflect (and am rarely not amazed) at the things God has put before me; how often He has answered my prayers; how He has supported me and lifted me; how He has truly never forsaken me even in the roughest of times. In these reflective moments, I really feel badly about this precious gift He has given me (thoughtsandprayer.com) because I do not ‘shepherd’ it as I should. It is indeed one of His many, many good and perfect gifts to me.
We all have before us sheep to shepherd. We may not be fully aware of it, but if you have discernment and your relationship with God, and His word, is really good then you become conscious of the people God has put before you, along your path … your sheep. Just like a pastor, or mom, or dad, these folk are put upon your path to help them, to guide them, to instruct them in the way of the Word. Now keep in mind this is not some frivolous task because Scripture clearly says in James 3.1 that those of us who are given these sheep to shepherd are held to a higher standard, a greater accountability. I believe this is so because we are spreading the gospel of Christ, the good news of the Bible and we must be sure of what it is we are spreading. That accountability is a little scary, but it keeps me focused knowing that when I reach those pearly gates, I will have to answer for everything that I have fed those who have been placed upon my path. Let this be a reminder for you: Be conscious of those whom you run across each day and be mindful of this: Nothing is by chance: Nothing is a coincidence. Your reading this T&P – not by chance. Lord, you are my everything.
When I am discouraged, I turn to you. You are so mighty. You are wise beyond measure; you alone are wisdom. Father, why should I worry or experience anxiety when I have you, when I can turn to you and you are there for me? I will adore you; I will delight in your word. Why … for you are holy. You are the great I am, and I am as you are. At the mention of your name, Jesus, your name is power. Holy. I sing praises to the King of Kings. Continue reading →
Hello all. It is a rainy day here in Houston, Texas. Thank God for the rain. We truly need it.
I have been listening to a series from White Dove Fellowship Church in Harvey, LA, (pastor, Mike Mille (me lay)) dealing with being blessed conscious as Christians. The Bible has many, many promises for us as believers in Christ Jesus. Some say over 7,000 promises are for us in Scripture.
As I listened, and re-listened, to Mille’s sermons with titles such as “Be Blessed Conscious”, Do it Now”, “Let it Go Now” and “Significant”, I got to thinking about the abundance of life as a Christian, specifically the supernatural abundance. Christ says He came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. Continue reading →
Ugh, going to the dentist is an absolute terror for me. I hate needles and blood and what’s interesting is that at one point in my life ’twas my dream to work as an anesthetist. Whenever I visit the dentist, I pray while lying on the dentist chair; I speak scriptures; I listen to sermons – anything Godly that takes my mind off those needles, the pressure and those scary dental tools!
This last dental visit, although pretty much the same as previous visits, God spoke to me. He said, “This is what surrendering to me is like.” I pondered surrendering my entire being to God (in Christ) who created me, who sustains me, who provides for me.
How does being in a dentist chair compare to surrendering to Him? When the dentist says turn left, I turn left; turn right, I turn right; move your head just a little, and so I move it, just a little, or when the dentist gently takes my head and turns it in the direction she needs – I go with the movement of her hand – I humbly succumb to the gentleness of her touch, the sound of her voice. “Are you ok?” I shake my head “yes” even though I am sure my eyes show terror. Hoping all is well with you and yours.
One of the few things in life I hate are daily news programs (maybe hate is too strong an emotion; maybe utter disdain is a better description). I find ‘them’ to be so negative, depressing and lacking (most of the time, anything good. Even the weather forecasters present the dreary before the beauty. And if there is anything good, or positive, or uplifting to report such encouragement typically comes within the last few minutes of the ‘news’. Its’ presentation is almost hypnotic, especially the cable news broadcasting – so repetitive in nature, so opinionated. When did news become someone’s viewpoint?
Today, I happened to look at the TV screen when the news broad-caster mentioned something about someone jumping to their death from a bridge in Los Angeles, CA., and I thought WOW… How can life get so bad that you want to end it? I know life has its issues, but to end such a precious thing, something that we had nothing to do with; and I thought what was wrong, where was this person’s hope, his support; did they not feel loved? Why was this person so despairing of life? Continue reading →
